Philosophy – Hopscotch Childcare, Otorohanga
Hopscotch Childcare Centre in Otorohanga supports an environment where children feel happy and secure. We ensure that care, love and respect are weaved throughout all aspects of our teaching practice. Children are provided with a safe and nurturing environment. This allows them to develop and learn at their own pace, enabling them to reach their full potential.
Our childcare creates a welcoming environment. Children and their families can develop a sense of belonging – and our centre reflects an extension of the home. By acknowledging both the dual heritage of New Zealand and the multicultural society that we live in, our educators are able to work together to provide an inclusive learning environment for the benefit of our children and their families.
Our fun and caring environment ensures that children are recognised as individuals. We value the unique culture they bring to our centre. Children are encouraged to be creative and challenged, which inspires them to learn strategies for active exploration.
We build strong relationships with parents/whanau based around trust and respect. Collaboration is an important aspect of our centre culture. We encourage ongoing communication between parents/whanau. This ensures we are working together to promote children’s learning and development.
Our play-based approach to learning ensures flexibility within our teaching practices. The physical environment supports our children’s natural development. It is safe for exploration, reflects the needs and interests of our children and is utilised as a third teacher. Through positive, quality interactions, we encourage children to take responsibility for their learning, enabling them to become capable and confident in their abilities.
